Today I was learning to make people want to read a book.

I enjoyed making it look quite inviting.

Today I was learning how to predict what is fact or fiction.

I enjoyed attempting to make someone think that my picture was real but is it?

Today I was learning to write a poem about a rugby ball.

What Is Media

Today I was learning to be very aware when it comes to media.
I enjoyed taking my photo and designing my own news paper.
I found it challenging to take the photo because I had blocked my camera.

Soil Science

My reading group did soil science and we found out that if your soil varies down into even groups then the soil is really good and it's name is loamy.

Seeking Help

Today I was learning about seeking help.

I enjoyed the whole process of being colourful and creative.

I found it challenging to get an image because I had blocked my camera.

Today I was learning how to make our cybersmart character look like it is using Netiquette.

I enjoyed colouring everything.

Leaf Observation

Today I was learning how to use water in a jar to magnify a leaf.

I enjoyed the process of making the book.

I found it challenging to sketch the leaf.

Today I was learning to create an animation character.

I enjoyed the whole process of making my character disappear.

I found it challenging to make my character smaller and smaller.

Cybersmart Saftey

Today I was learning about keeping safe on the internet.
I enjoyed creating a character and thinking up  name for the character.
I found it challenging to create a clear message for the reader.

On my bestie Violets Birthday party we went and made bath salts and face scrubs at a ladie named jess's house.

Winter Magnetic Writing

Today I was learning write a poem with my  words and the words around me.
I enjoyed the whole process even though I disliked screencastify because I hate hearing my own voice.
I found it challenging to change my voice on the recording.

Next time I would change the pieace of writing and make it into a different one.

Book Review

We are learning to write a book review about a book that we have red and retell it in our own words. 

The Worlds Deadliest Snake

We looked at a youtube clip and chose words or sentences that we liked then used them to write our own paragraph.

The hunt is on with her smooth and glossy scales.
The Inland Taipan stays fluid and silent.
She relies on relatively strong eye sight to hone in her target.
Moving in for the kill with her slender body
realising that if this was to be devastatingly
accurate there would be little to chance.
Slithering along silently she strikes repeatedly.
Meanly munching up her prey. It’s the venom that makes her
the world's deadliest snake.

Matariki

We celebrated Matariki by planting garlic, making stars and putting glitter on the outside, making our own Matariki design and doing the Matariki dance.

Tonui Collab Visit

On Monday 17th 2019

A group called the Tonui Collab which you may know as The Mind Lab [they changed their name] came to Matawai School and we used a program called Plotagon. You create your own avatar and then get a scene and you plot what you would like do and say what you want to say onto your scene.

Beaut Ukes Ukelele Performance

Ha Ray! We finally acomplished it oh hello we went to the War Memorial Theater I'm just glad that we got out there did that and smashed it. Ithink we did quite good and I do wanna do this again with this group if you haven't seen what I look like just look at the picture look in the front row and I am in the middle. Ok thats me have a good day by.

2019 About Me

Kia ora my name is Ropiha. I have two siblings and I live with my mum and dad. I am in year 5 at Matawai School. I am a Māori and I live in the North Island of New Zealand. 

I love maths and my teacher is good at helping us figure out strategies. I love writing and learning how to spell new words and also learning the meanings of those words. My challenges would be to get all my goals and writing and spelling every word possible that I can spell correctly. My goals for this year would be persevering and striving to be the best I can be. 

I am looking forward to learning new things this year about people that I never knew and and learning new things things in literacy. I love learning  so much that it's my strongest achievement and favourite thing to do. My favourite type of art is water colouring. Someone who inspires me to to do things and connect with others and my friends, my teacher and my parents.
